About Kathy

Art has always been woven into the fabric of my life, a vibrant thread of creativity that stretches back to my earliest memories. I recall as a child, the joy of unwrapping a box of nearly 100 crayons, each a different hue. Throughout the years, I've explored various forms of artistic expression, finding viable activities even when resources were scarce and electricity unreliable at best at different times and places of my life.

My surroundings have always influenced my artistic journey. Whether it's the delicate simplicity of Japanese motifs subtly interwoven into my work or the vibrant scenes of Lebanon depicted through alcohol ink collages. Traveling through distant lands like Chile and Peru, I found inspiration in the intricate details of doorways, capturing their essence with ink on altered National Geographic pages. Each place I've called home has left its indelible mark on my creations.

Living amidst the natural splendor of the foothills near the Central Valley, I find endless inspiration in the blossoming almond trees, towering redwoods, and the fiery hues of poppies dancing in the breeze. Alcohol ink has become one of my favorite mediums, their unpredictable nature mirroring the fluidity of life itself.

As a mother, wife, and full-time teacher, there have been seasons when art had to take a backseat, but its calling has always persisted. My current artistic endeavors include alcohol ink, altered National Geographics, acrylics, textured art, and collage, each piece a reflection of the landscapes both external and internal that have shaped my journey. Recently, my alcohol ink poppies graced the cover of "A Caboodle of Blossoms," a collection of poems and short stories by Mike Mitchell, a testament to the resonance of my heartwork with others.

Art is more than just a hobby; it's my sanctuary, my therapy, my heartwork—a testament to the beauty that resides within and around us, waiting to be discovered and shared with the world.
